Craig
Covey - Chief Executive Officer
Craig founded MAPP in 1988 after developing and implementing the first
behavior based HIV/AIDS prevention programs in Ohio and Michigan during
the mid-l980s. He has served since that time at the Executive Director
and is now the C.E.O. He also served up until 2002 in the dual role
as an education consultant with the HIV AIDS Prevention and Intervention
Section at the Michigan Department of Community Health.
Craig is originally from Columbus Ohio, where he attended the Ohio
State University and later founded the Stonewall Union, Ohios
largest Gay rights group. He is the current Mayor-Pro-Tem of Ferndale,
and has been elected to the Ferndale City Council twice. He founded
the annual Ferndale Blues Festival, which raises money for charity.

Robert
Babut - Finance & Systems Manager
Bob has served MAPP since the beginning in 1988 as a Board Member
and Treasurer. He now serves as Finance and Systems Manager. He became
a staff member in 1995 as MAPP had grown to the point where a financial
professional was needed to keep the organization fiscally sound. He
also keeps the office running by maintaining the computer network
and communications infrastructure. He manages the employee benefits
and works hard to keep MAPP a state of the art agency at a minimal
cost. Bob has also served as president and treasurer of the Motor
City Bears, President and Treasurer of Detroit STUDS-30 and founding
treasurer of FANS of Ferndale

Barb
Wood - Editor, Michigan HIV News (www.mihivnews.com)
Barb Wood is editor of the Michigan HIV News web site and quarterly
newsletter.
Barb has been involved in HIV prevention and education since 1985,
when she began a speakers bureau on AIDS for the American Red
Cross, Washtenaw County Chapter. She was one of the first instructor
trainers for the Red Cross HIV/AIDS Education program in Michigan.
Barb has edited the statewide news source for HIV/AIDS with its evolving
mastheads and media since 1995, as part of the MAPP team since 1999.

Monica Mills - Special Administrative/Project Coordinator
Monica began working at MAPP in 2003 as the Volunteer & Project Coordinator. Her duties include coordinating and managing program volunteers,
special projects such as the Ferndale Blues Festival, the Pride Banquet,
the Ferndale Pub Crawl, Salsa and the AIDS Walk. She is also the administrative
assistant to the CEO.
Before working at MAPP, Monica and her husband Larry of 25 years,
have spent many hours volunteering at the agency and for the city
of Ferndale. In 2002 they were the first couple ever to be honored
as Ferndale Citizens of the Year. They have met many wonderful people
through the many interesting activities they have been a part of.
Working at a non-profit agency is far more rewarding then her previous
work in retail, although most of the skills she learned have been
put to good use at MAPP.

Royale Theus - Program Director
Royale
has been with MAPP since 2004 doing trainings and outreach to men who have sex with men (MSM), and he is facilitator of MAPP's Many Men, Many Voices. Prior to MAPP he did HIV prevention and education work for Visiting Nurse Association and the Detroit Health Department, starting in the field back in 2000 as a volunteer with the former Men of Color agency. Royale is also a nursing student at Oakland County Community College.

Jihannh Jones - Outreach Coordinator
Jihannh (pronounced Ja-ni`), a MAPP volunteer since 2004, is now the full-time special outreach coordinator. He also is co-facilitator of the Many Men Many Voices (3MV) intervention and co-coordinator of the WAGS program. Jones is currently in training to earn his State certification for Counseling and Testing and has completed Outreach to MSM training. He has previous HIV/AIDS experience doing volunteer work for the former Men of Color and MPowerment Detroit. Prior to coming to MAPP, Jones was providing home health care for people with autism and continues to do this part-time.

Kathie R. Griffin - Counseling & Testing Supervisor
Kathie is referred to by friends and family Racquel. She has been working in the field of HIV/AIDS since 1992. She started as a peer educator for Community Health Awareness Group passing out information on HIV and telling others her age about how to be safe. 15 years later, she is now the supervisor of the counseling and testing program for MAPP. She enjoys educating people about HIV as well as testing people.
Kathie is also a mother of a 13 year old son, and a 1year old West Highland Terrier. In her free time she enjoys teaching CPR for the Red Cross and being around family and friends. Because education is important to her she tries to stay current with what’s going on in and outside her community. Kathie can be reached at kgriffin@aidsprevention.org.

Robert D. Thomas - Program, Project & Event Manager
Robert joined MAPP in November 2007. Prior to his new role as Program, Project, and Event Manager, Robert had been in the field of human services for over 5 years from working in the Detroit Public School system to being a key member of the administrative/executive team at one of the largest youth social services agencies in the region that specifically addresses Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgendered and Questioning (LGBTQ) homeless and at-risk youth. Robert takes professionalism seriously and aims to exude nothing short of heartfelt excellence when it comes to servicing communities in need.
While he will be coordinating the successful implementation of programs, projects, and events, Robert will be a certified HIV test counselor. This couples well with his prior knowledge of Safer Sex practices and his experience in training various agencies in creating safe spaces for LGBTQ persons, especially youth and young adults statewide.
In his leisure, he enjoys bowling, playing the flute, annual camping trips with his family, and spending quality time with his puppy and his loving partner. Feel free to contact Robert at rthomas@aidsprevention.org.

Wayne Stallworth - Prevention Specialist
Wayne Anthony Stallworth Jr. began his work in the HIV field in 2004 as a volunteer at MPowerment Detroit. MPowerment Detroit is where Wayne facilitated his first group discussion to African American men who have sex with other men. He also did outreach in various venues where this unique population congregated. Wanting to do more, he joined the AmeriCorps Program which is apart of the Michigan AIDS Fund (MAF). During his two years with MAF he worked at the Detroit Department of Health and Wellness Promotion, working on the Mobile Care Unit. When his assignment ended with the AmeriCorps program, he began working as an Outreach Representative at the Horizons Project through DMC and Wayne State University. Wayne is a native of Detroit, growing up on the eastside. He has a unique passion which has allowed him to be a mentor and help change the behaviors of countless at risk persons from every ethnic background and age.

Adriana Garza - Prevention Specialist
Adriana started working in the HIV field as an outreach worker in 2001 for Community Health Awareness Group (CHAG) and then became an HIV test counselor in 2002. During her tenure at CHAG Adriana (Adi for short) gave community presentations about risk behavior, and the importance of testing for drug treatment centers as well as clinics and homeless shelters. She participated in the rapid testing demonstration project for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and became one of the first counselors to be certified in rapid testing. Adi is currently studying to receive her addiction specialist certification. She grew up and still lives on the southwest side of Detroit with her husband and two children.

Ray Magdaleno -
Project Coordinator
